I am being completely honest when I say; I absolutely hate the “fringe” trend. First and foremost, I think it’s just like the neon trend and will fade away in a matter of months. Secondly, I believe it to be just plain tacky. All it pretty much is, is extra pieces of material that is cut into little strands and dangles off your handbag/shoe. Not very original if you ask me, but of course that is just my opinion.

If I had to pick one fringe accessory that was semi-cute it would have to be the “Janis Fringe Clutch” by Linea Pelle. Even Linea Pelle got carried away with all the “fringe”, but for some reason it doesn’t look so bad on a clutch. I do believe the clutch doesn’t look that tacky with all the fringe is because of the size. The bigger the bag the more “fringe” it needs, which makes me it look horrible. Being that this clutch is fairly tiny, there were only so many strands that could be added to it. I’m still not a fan of it, but it is better than most “fringe” bags I have seen.

One “pro” about this clutch is that I will say it is very versatile. It’s not too dressy or casual, therefore you can carry it during the day or night.

The Janis Fringe Clutch comes in four different colors: black; brown; grey; and white. My personal favorite is the grey only because it’s not too dark and not too light. This clutch is not something I would personally carry, but if you love the fringe trend I’m sure you’ll be a fan of it.

When I think of Linea Pelle, I usually think of their infamous leather belts. Perhaps it’s because I have seen so many photos of celebrities wearing one around their waist — male celebrities included! The company’s president and ceo, Mira Anzaruth, has a flare for trendsetting fashion and she insists on using washed Italian leathers for all of the company’s products. But, as many of you probably already know, Linea Pelle also has a diverse collection of handbags “under their belt”.

I think what I like most about Linea Pelle handbags is the soft, slouchy shapes that they come in. These bags are definitely meant for casual, everyday wear. Take, for instance, this new style pictured above. It’s called the Alyssa Shoulder Bag. I love the large hobo shape, woven leather handle, and pop-stitch trim. I think it would make a great everyday style that offers a balance of both unstructured slouchiness and intricate little details. And this new color called Purple Dawn? Yum, yummy! I think it would be perfect for just about any season!

Linea Pelle has come out with one of the cutest clutches I have ever seen. The Linea Pelle Collection Lola Clutch is adorable and not to mention versatile. You can literally carry this clutch during the day or night, in any season and it will look fabulous, no matter what.

The Lola Clutch is a toss up between a clutch and a small handbag, and that’s what makes it so amazing. It can be carried folded for a hot night out on the town or by the handle during a gorgeous day. Either way you choose to carry the clutch it will look stunning!

Details of the Lola Clutch include: being made of washed Italian lambskin; having solid brass hardware; signature zebra lining in the interior; an inside zipper pocket; and a top magnetic closure. It also comes in two different colors, bittersweet (dark brown) and midnight (navy blue). I personally think this clutch would look beautiful in black, but being that black isn’t available I would have to go with bittersweet. The bittersweet version of the clutch would go great with a pair of dark brown heels to match it.

A little birdie told me that fringe details will be hot for Spring 09. My first reaction? Oh no, not again! I’ll admit it, I have never been much of a fan of fringe. And yet, these past few seasons kept having a few fringed styles showing up here and there. But this year, the fringe somehow seems different. Instead of screaming “hippie”, these new bags have more of a western feel to them. So I thought, maybe — just maybe — I should give fringe a second look. The key to making this look work, in my opinion, is to limit the rows of fringe to just one or two.

Above I have pictured two fun, fringe-filled styles. The first is the J.J. Winters Suede Fringe Bag. I think Vanessa Hudgens wore it well with her floaty top, skinny jeans, and boots. The bag measures 16.5″ x 11″ and it retails for $420. Find it in Grey at Pink Mascara.

The Chat: Fringe Handbags

I’m in search of something bold, bright, with chunky hardware and almost everything I run into that fits the description, I’m wanting! I’ve always been a sucker for satchels and at the moment, I’m eyeing the Dylan Croco Zippy Satchel by Linea Pelle.

It’s called the zippy satchel for a reason as you can find three main compartments (divided by zippers), perfect for the ultimate organizer in you. Linea Pelle Espresso Hayley Satchel
I have to be honest before the Bag Forum and Bagbliss days I never knew who Linea Pelle was until I read on the forum that they were having a sample sale. When I checked out the Linea Pelle sample sale, I wasn’t very impressed but to my surprise a majority of the bags did sell out. While browsing through all of the new handbag arrivals on Bluefly yesterday, I came across a beautiful brown bag that kind of reminded me of a mix between Balenciaga and Rebecca Minkoff. That beautiful brown handbag was the Linea Pelle espresso leather hayley large satchel and my is it super cute. I really love how the handbag comes with a detachable shoulder strap, giving a bagista not one but two ways to carry her handbag. The Linea Pelle Hayley can be worn on the shoulders with either the two handles or the strap. I personally love carrying any handbag on my shoulders with the handles, and having the strap gracefully dangle off the handbag. The Hayley also has plenty of room for your belongings and even has zebra lining inside to style the bag up even more. Only downfall about the Linea Pelle Hayley is that alone it weighs a 3 pounds. Once you add all your fashionable items the handbag can weigh over 5 pounds. Cute handbag but seems like it can be like toning exercise with all that weight on your arm.

The Linea Pelle expresso leather Hayley large satchel retails for $585, but we are in luck because our friends at bluefly have it in stock. Bluefly is currently selling the Hayley for $351, and I must say that is not bad these days for a gorgeous handbag.

Lauren Conrad (for Linae Pelle) Does Cynthia Rowley
When MTV’s The Hills star Lauren Conrad was designing the latest collection for brand Linae Pelle, I wonder if she was inspired by Cythia Rowley’s designs or was it just a coincidence. Because I can’t help but notice the LC clutch looks quite similar to Cynthia Rowley’s Martha purse. These bags are pretty close to being considered identical, or at least belonging to the same family. Both oversized clutches are designed in a simple flap over clutch style and feature a thick gold chunky chain detail as the main focus.

The Cynthia Rowley purse is slightly longer by 4″, but both bags are the same width. Price wise, you can find the Cynthia Rowley designer bag at Shopbop for $195, or you can save a few dollars and snag the look-a-like Lauren Conrad Linae Pelle purse for $145 at LPcollection.
