MM6 by Maison Martin Margiela Perforated Leather Hobo

MM6 by Maison Martin Margiela Perforated Leather Hobo
Architecturally inspired, clean and modern lines are the design hallmarks of a Margiela handbag. While the primary line generally sells for $1,000 and up, this is a much more affordable choice for most of us. MM6 by Maison Martin Margiela is the brands diffusion line. This brand provides the Margiela style at a much lower price point. At $495, this bag makes a big statement for spring and summer!

What caught my eye about the perforated Hobo is the sleek and modern triangular design of the bag. Clean and simple, it offers a lot of visual impact. I can see this with so many of today’s contemporary clothing designers. The imported, perforated leather is the second aspect of this bag that really catches your eye. It looks light and airy and fresh for summertime! An added benefit of the perforation is the overall light weight of this bag. Carrying it would be like having a cloud on your shoulder!

Maison Martin Margiela Leather Strip Clutch

Maison Martin Margiela Leather Strip Clutch
Thanks to Lady Gaga, Architectural fashion seems to be everywhere right now. Some of it is stunning, and some of it is just plain weird. I think most people would agree that everything Lady Gaga wears should be labeled as more of a fashion mess than stylish.

I’m not a huge fan of architectural fashion but I have to admit that some of it is pretty cool and unique looking. When I came across the Maison Martin Margiela Leather “Strip” Clutch I was intrigued. It wasn’t super crazy, but the leather bands that wrapped the body of the clutch caught my eye. I liked how the bands were going in all different directions, but it would of looked much better if more than one color was featured.

Maison Martin Margiela Snakeskin Chain Clutch

Maison Martin Margiela Snakeskin Chain Clutch
I’m always looking forward to see what Maison Martin Margiela is up to next. The House of M.M never fails to release innovative designs on their goods and accessories. They come unique and way out of the ordinary that at times, it’s difficult to decide whether they’re a hit or more of a disaster. My first thought when I ran into the Metallic Snakeskin Chain Clutch was, it’s exotic, formal, and expensive… but I never expected to find so many handles on such a petite piece.

The first time I heard of the multiple handle trend on a bag was last year when Comme des Garcons collaborated with Louis Vuitton. Although the odd looking Mini HL wasn’t my style, it was a hit among devoted Louis Vuitton collectors. Why did Martin Margiela’s create his own version of the multiple handle bag? Was there a demand for another awkward bag with a pick-your-handle-drop design? Ladies, what’s your judgment on this Martin Margiela piece? What about handbags with more than two handles on them? If you like this out of the ordinary clutch, you can purchase this via eLUXURY for a steep price of $1,195!

Choosing the Right Handbag for Your Body

Choosing the Right Handbag for Your Body
Picking out a brand new handbag probably leaves us bag lovers with one of the best feelings in the world. When it comes to the selection process, however, many woman don’t take into consideration how the handbag might affect their overall appearance. The truth of the matter is, the wrong handbag can totally break an outfit. But if this is true, then that means the right style handbag can totally make an outfit by drawing attention away from one area and directing it toward another. Pairing the right style of handbag with your body type can be just as flattering as a pair of perfectly-cut jeans.

So which style works best with which body types?

If you are PETITE:
Smaller people can easily become overwhelmed by large handbags. Small to medium shoulder bags are your best bet. If you want to create an illusion of height, then pick a style that is taller than it is wide.

If you are TALL and SKINNY:
Don’t have a lot of curves? Try a large, unstructured hobo style. If you prefer a smaller bag, then select on that hits you right at your waist when worn over the shoulder. Both of these will help you create the illusion of a curvier figure.

If you are PLUS SIZED:
Go for larger, more structured handbags like totes and briefs. A bag that is wider than it is tall will help balance out your figure. Smaller bags should be avoided since they will appear out of proportion when compared to your size.

If you are PEAR SHAPED:
Try a smaller bag that fits snugly under your arm. It will help you draw attention away from your hip area and toward your bustline. This will help balance out your figure. Messenger bags and satchels should be avoided since they will cause the eye to move downward.

If you are BIG BUSTED:
A large chest will only be emphasized by a handbag that hits you above the waist. Instead, choose a messenger style or handheld satchel. This will help draw the eye downward, away from your bust, and can help balance out your figure.

Now that you know what style of handbag will flatter you the most, you will be able to make more confident decisions when it comes to purchasing a new bag. But wait, what if you absolutely fall in love with a bag that may not suit your body type? Don’t worry! Here at TBF we are all about what makes YOU happy. So as long as the bag makes you feel fabulous, then by all means, wear it with pride!

Maison Martin Margiela Gift Bow Wallet

Maison Martin Margiela Gift Bow Wallet
Martin Margiela has definitely given us some very unique and interesting designs this year. He’s obvioulsy not afraid to take his fashions to a whole different level by applying the not-your-so-averege arm wear elements to his handbags. His latest creative piece, by MMM is the new Gift Bow Wallet, which looks like a little present with a classic holiday bow. Now this is one wallet that I’ve never seen before.

This is definitely a piece that I would have to see in person as I am really curious about the bow detail. I’m wondering how structured it is and if it would bend easily, etc. In my opinion, I really like this wallet and could see myself using it. Now, don’t get me wrong because there are other items on my wishlist that precede this. And I’m not sure if I would spend $495 on it because of the trend factor. Anyways, it has ten credit card slots, three flat pockets, a billfold, and a coin pouch. It also closes by a snap closure and is available in white glove, which is shown above. But overall, I’m liking MMM’s creativity here. And this one would turn some heads for sure.

Maison Martin Margiela’s Airbrushed Wolf Med. Sac Bag

Oh my goodness was my first reaction as I ran upon Maison Martin Margiela’s Airbrushed Wolf Medium Sac Bag. My first negative reaction was to the handbag itself. My second, to its over exaggerating price tag of $1,195!

Have you guys ever gone to some kind of fair or carnival where the airbrushed tee shirts are the souvenir to get? Personally, I’ve never picked up one of those colorful tees, and I really don’t plan on it either. With that said, I would definitely never consider picking up this M.M.M handbag. I apologize to any of you fans of this bag (and to the fans of airbrushed t-shirts), but why a wolf on a pebbled leather handbag? I just don’t get it. First of all, it’s extremely tacky and cheap looking, and it certainly doesn’t look like your average premium designer accessory. I will state that whoever airbrushed this wolf design is extremely talented and artistic, and I do give that person props. Though I do believe that M.M.M shouldn’t have applied this design to its Sac Bag.

What do you ladies think about this bag? Do you like it, or dislike it? Personally, I couldn’t wear this bag. I would much rather sport an airbrushed t-shirt to an airbrushed wolf bag!

Maison Martin Margiela Large Laminated Lace Clutch

Martin Margiela is known for producing very interesting and, often, unusual designs when it comes to his handbags. It is often hard for me to imagine that he had once designed for companies such as Hermés and Jean Paul Gaultier. Okay, maybe I can imagine him behind Jean Paul Gaultier. But Hermés?

Pictured above is a new clutch from Maison Martin Margiela. It is called the Large Laminated Lace Clutch. To be honest with you, I do like the lace. After all, nothing is more elegant and romantic than the soft touch of lace. But what stopped me in my tracks, literally and figuratively, was the fact that this clutch is made of clear plastic. I’m sorry, but plastic just doesn’t mix with lace unless its a $40 bag by Chinese Laundry. But this is a Maison Martin Margiela clutch and it retails for $425. I’m sorry, but I tend to expect a little bit more for my 400 hard earned bucks.

The Maison Martin Margiela Large Laminated Lace Clutch measures 11.75″ x 7.5″ x 1″. The interior opens to two gusseted compartments and also features a large zippered pocket. You can find it at eLUXURY. Also note that the much smaller Maison Martin Margiela Laminated Lace Pouch is also available. It retails for $105.

It Made Elux’s 10 Most Wanted List: The Maison Martin Margiela Large Satin Sac Bag

It Made Elux’s 10 Most Wanted List: The Maison Martin Margiela Large Satin Sac Bag
I was browsing over at Elux the other day, only to discover a “10 Most Wanted” list located in the Buzz section. The picks for this list were chosen by Jen Ely (the buyer for women’s contemporary), Jenni Witt (the buyer for women’s designer), and Caroline Goodman (the buyer for men’s and beauty). Pictured above, we have one of Jenni Witt’s picks. Look familiar? It should! It’s the Maison Martin Margiela Large Satin Sac Bag and it was featured in one of Jennifer’s posts back in January (You can refresh you memory here: Maison Martin Margiela Bags!). And Ms. Witt’s quote? “You can put your whole life inside of it and it still maintains a cool, slouchy shape.” Well said Jenni, well said!

Martin Margiela, a former designer for Paul Jean Paul Gaultier and Hermés, is known for his simple designs. This particular bag is just a simple sack made of satin. And yet this simple design and delicate fabric are the reason behind the gorgeous gathers seen in this bag. The bag is elegant like an evening bag, but large enough to carry around your kitchen sink! Don’t worry though, your keys will remain within reach thanks to the small zippered pouch suspended inside the bag.

Maison Martin Margiela Chain Mail Handbag

Maison Martin Margiela Chain Mail Handbag
Maison Martin Margiela Chain Mail Handbag
Designer Martin Margiela has definitely presented a few unique pieces in his new collection. It seems this fashion artist isn’t afraid to use different materials that a bag normally wouldn’t be constructed of. The last MMM purse I wrote about was the Cork Clutch, which many weren’t a huge fan of. But there is also another member of the uncommon club, which is the Chain Mail Handbag.

My first thought about this one was how heavy it is. It measures 11.5″x 9.5″x 4.5″, which isn’t exactly small, so there has to be some weight from the metallic chain mail. Though it doesn’t seem too clunky and the sides, bottom and straps are bare with grained leather. But what if you left it in the sun for a while and then carried it with exposed arms? Ouch! But really, why didn’t Margiela consider this? It just isn’t a practical bag in my opinion. There are too many things about this bag that turn me off. I’m really not feeling the chain mail idea and I prefer slighter hardware embellishments on bags. I wouldn’t even wear this if it were given to me.

But anyways, if you are a fan of this one, it retails for $ $995. You can check out the details here: eLUXURY
