No offense to Moschino’s new creative director Jeremy Scott, but what the heck?! Not only has he managed to upset McDonald’s employees with his debut runway collection (Fall 2014), he has managed to get quite a few raised eyebrows throughout the fashion world as well. When I laid eyes on the handbag you see here, all I could think was “wow, just wow”. Introducing the Moschino Fall 2014 Runway Arches Bag!
In case you hadn’t noticed, this handbag looks like what would happen if McDonald’s and Chanel were to have a child together. This odd mix of inspiration can also be seen in the clothing pieces from this collection. What immediately grabbed my attention with this handbag was the bright red and yellow. They give this piece almost a caricature-like quality. More notable, however, is how Moschino’s iconic heart design was adapted to resemble the golden arches seen towering above McDonald’s restaurants all over the world. In all honesty, I am not really sure what to think. I mean, I know he was trying to be satirical with this collection. But in many ways, I feel like this one is an epic fail. I can see these pieces being valued for their novelty and prized someday as collector’s pieces. But I just cannot fathom a practical use for this handbag. It would definitely take the right person to be able to get some use out of it.
The Moschino Arches Bag retails for $895 and is available at SHOPBOP!
