True Religion Spring Bags
Denim jean company True Religion recently entered the handbag market last month, January 2008. The head designer for the handbag collection is Leslie Hsu, a fourteen-year design veteran who previously designed for brands Calvin Klein and Tahari, as well as her own name-sake collection, and recently licensed and launched UGG Australia handbags.
Leslie Hsu feels “True Religion Handbags are effortlessly chic, and the collection promises that every accessory would be a conversation piece.
The vintage bohemian True Religion collection consists of anything and everything you can think of under the Handbag umbrella: clutches, hobos, satchels, bags, totes, weekend bags, and accessories (key chains). Materials you will find mostly used throughout the collection are hand dyed cotton and Italian leathers. Colors, you will see a lot of deep cadmium, bright pineapple, turquoise, fuchsia, kelly green, royal blue and golden whiskies throughout the line. Price range is around $128 for a mini purse pouch and on up to $898 for the Stella Weekender (pictured above).
The six fabrications in the collection include:
Italian Tumbled Leather – Only the finest of hand-dyed vegetable leathers are used in this line. The colors used are whiskey, cadmium, tangerine, royal, pineapple, kelly green, turquoise and fuchsia. The pieces strike a perfect balance between chic and bold. The Leyla Day Bag and Stella Weekender are expected to be the recognized pieces of the collection’s launch.
Woven Leather – Hand woven and knotted leather form these textural delights. This style comes in brown, white and cadmium. The Serena Hobo, a triangular hobo shoulder bag, is a modern silhouette with a craft inspired design.
Italian Stamped Python – The Leyla Day Bag, Stella Weekender, Josie Clutches, and Sisi Clutch are given depth through the beautiful leather combinations. Mixing a fine Italian washed nappa with a unique stamped python in black, slate blue, and brown. Exceptionally textural and exquisite.
Patchwork Denim – The Stella Weekender is available in a special signature patchwork denim fabric. Using over-washed, vintage looking denim, the Stella Weekender pays homage to True Religion’s heritage.
Washed Vintage Nappa – The Delilah and Dylan Slings along with the Wren Messengers and Phoebe Totes are given a bohemian twist with long, hand-cut fringe, reminiscent of the seventies. The suede fringes adorn this Woodstock inspired group.
Rainbow Serape – The Phoebe Tote and Winona Satchel are made of genuine Mexican cotton serape in a festive rainbow color way. These bags are trimmed with heavy whiskey vegetable leather and vintage inspired hardware. A perfect compliment to summer’s bright palette.
