CC SKYE The Shredder Hobo

image: CC SKYE Facebook
I have a personal shredder in my office at work that I use on a daily basis. It’s noisy, takes up valuable space, and overheats my office quite quickly. It never crossed my mind that someday an office shredder would be used as a tool to inspire a designer’s vision of a contemporary handbag. That vision became a reality to the fashion house of CC SKYE, meet the shredder hobo.

Billykirk Schoolboy Satchel

Billykirk Schoolboy Satchel
I have been lusting after the Cambridge Satchel Company lately. I don’t know what the appeal is. There is just something about the way they look. Classic, vintage, and let’s not forget that schoolgirl (or boy?) -ish charm! Not to mention it looked like Clara on Doctor Who was carrying one. I can’t be certain since the camera never really focused on the bag, but it sure looked like one! But is the Cambridge Satchel Company the only designer out there that makes these schoolbag-inspired pieces? Perhaps my obsession should not focus on one designer, but the style instead. I came across a fairly new designer today (okay, they were founded in 1999) and they have just the look I was going for. Introducing the Billykirk Schoolboy Satchel!

Frye Skull Studded Tote

Frye Skull Studded Tote
When most bagistas think of skulls, they probably think of Alexander McQueen. While this designer is very well known for its skulls (particularly the skull clutches), there is another designer I still think of whenever skulls are mentioned. Does anyone remember Thomas Wylde? Whatever happened to that designer? It seems like they just fell off the face of the planet. I checked their website and there are new collections. So why am I not seeing them around anymore? Oh well, I suppose it doesn’t matter. The only reason I bring it up is because the bag you see here reminded me of Thomas Wylde (rather than Alexander McQueen). Meet the Frye Skull Studded Tote!

The Cambridge Satchel Company Duck Egg Blue Bag

The Cambridge Company Duck Egg Blue Satchel
A few month ago The Cambridge Satchel Company introduced the pastel line for the Spring 2013 season and I was instantly hooked. The current collection features soft shades of mint, rose, lemon, lilac and my favorite duck egg blue. The duck egg blue is a very similar shade to the mint, just with a slight green-ish hue.

There has been so much hype surrounding pastels for spring and the heavily followed minty fresh trendy for S/S ’13. Personally I’m all for the mint trend but when it comes to my wardrobe, I definitely stock up more in the clothing department. I have only one mint colored bag and it’s the Rebecca Minkoff MAC which is enough for me. Trends come and go and that’s why I usually tend to opt for one bag per trend.

If I didn’t have the Minkoff MAC in my collection, my second choice would be this Duck Egg Blue Satchel by The Cambridge Satchel Company. Love the style!

The classic Cambridge Satchel is designed in pale sturdy leather. This structured bag has a patch pocket under the buckled flap. Carry cross-body with the long, adjustable shoulder strap, or tuck the strap in for a clutch look.

Anndra Neen Mirrored Gold Streak Alpaca Metal Box Clutch

Anndra Neen Mirrored Box Clutch
I don’t know a whole lot about Anndra Neen. However, what I do know is that this designer makes some very unique statement jewelry. Founders Phoebe and Annette Stephens take their inspiration from Egyptian motifs and Bauhaus graphics. Plus each piece is handcrafted by artisans in Mexico City using metal alloys such as alpaca silver. Beautiful! Never in my wildest dreams though did I think I would see a handbag from this designer. Did I miss something somewhere? When did Anndra Neen start making them? Oh well, it is a lovely surprise nonetheless and this particular piece has really caught my eye. Introducing the Anndra Neen Mirrored Gold Streak Alpaca Metal Box Clutch!

Bag Trend: NUDE ALERT!

Nudes are everywhere right now! On your feet (shoes), on your nails (polish), and even on the beach (shame on you, I was talking about nude swimsuits)! But I suppose it should come as no surprise. After all, nudes are definitely a warm season trend. So why not nude handbags as well? They have been popping up left and right lately! I really love this look. Nudes are so simple and chic, plus they go with just about anything! You have to be careful though. There are definitely dos and don’ts with this trend. For example: Do go for rich textures, but don’t pair nudes with perforations (too Band-Aid-ish). Stick with geometric or animal-inspired textures instead.

Alright! Are you ready to give this trend a try now? To get you started, I have a few suggestions below. Check them out! There is something for everyone and for every budget!

Lauren Merkin Molly Suede Croco Clutch
Lauren Merkin Molly Suede Croco Clutch. $325
You can’t go wrong with a classic envelope clutch! This style looks absolutely fabulous in nude! I also love the suede and the croco-embossed texture. It is really simple, yet it looks so very rich at the same time.

Liebeskind Tibby Crossbody Bag

Liebeskind Tibby
I have been seeing a lot of Liebeskind handbags floating around lately. Until now, it was always just a passing glance. So what changed? My eyes landed on this adorable little cross body bag and I thought it was worth checking out. Introducing the Liebeskind Tibby Crossbody Bag!

First things first though… who is Liebeskind? After doing some investigating, I learned that this is a German designer. The company began in Berlin in 2004 and the name “Liebeskind” literally means “child of love”. Well, I suppose that is a fitting name.

These handbags are definitely the product of love. Just take a look at the Tibby Cross Body Bag, I think you will see what I mean! The leather is soft and supple, almost weathered in appearance. It is as if someone has already loved this piece and broken it in for you. The front also features a large block of pyramid studs, which I absolutely adore. I am such a sucker for studs! This sweet little bag would bring some functionality to your chic urban vibe.

It is perfect for those days when you don’t need to carry much with you. Perhaps when you’re strolling around town or doing a little shopping!

Charlotte Olympia “Taurus” Zodiac Pandora Clutch

I’m definitely into the whole zodiac and horoscope thing. In fact, I follow it pretty religiously and I have an app on my phone about it. I’m a Leo and I’m so proud to be a Leo. We really are eccentric beings and we love being different. I mean, two of the most famous Leo’s are Jennifer Lopez and Madonna. My birthday is August 6th and it’s funny to know that one of my favorite comedic actresses, Lucille Ball, shared the same birthday as me.
