Stella McCartney to Design Limited Edition Travel Collections for LeSportsac

Date Added: January 29, 2007

Awesome news, fashion designer Stella McCartney announced she will partner with LeSportsac, to design a series of limited edition lifestyle collections focusing on travel bags, luggage and baby accessories. Which is expected to hit store shelves Spring of next year. ( *wahoo* )

Hot off the press, today from wwd:

Stella McCartney is joining forces with LeSportsac to design a limited-edition accessories collection to be launched in spring 2008.

The collection will focus on multipurpose travel bags, luggage, baby accessories and totes for mothers with young children. The company plans to make an official announcement today.

The Stella McCartney for Le and shy; Sportsac collection will be sold in high-end department and specialty stores worldwide. It will also be sold at the three Stella McCartney boutiques – here and in New York and Los Angeles – and the five LeSportsac stores, and will be available online.

The collection initially will have 30 to 40 styles, and the average price of a bag will be $200 to $250. The deal with LeSportsac is for 18 months, and is renewable.

“LeSportsac has a strong history of making iconic nonleather goods, and this is a unique opportunity for Stella McCartney to address a new category of accessories for the busy woman of today,” said Marco Bizzarri, chief executive officer and president of Stella McCartney.

Bizzarri told WWD the new collaboration was a way for the brand to create a worldwide audience for Stella McCartney bags. “It will give her bags a wider appeal.”

McCartney has a nonleather accessories line, part of her ready-to-wear collection, that was launched for fall 2006. The LeSportsac deal is the latest in a string of partnerships the designer has formed to boost her brand’s profile as well as the bottom line.

Steve Jacaruso, chief operating officer and president of LeSportsac, said the brand wanted to “tap into Stella McCartney’s creative vision and take [Le and shy; Sportsac] to the next level of high-end design and style.”

He said the line would be innovative and versatile and the bags would appeal to a variety of women, whether or not they’re toting children around.

A Stella McCartney spokesman said the company would report its 2006 financial results in the late spring. Bizzarri said sales were exceeding expectations.

As reported, PPR, which through its Gucci Group subsidiary holds 50 percent of Stella McCartney and has majority stakes in Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen and Sergio Rossi, said the brands were “well in advance” of reaching their breakeven targets in 2007.

Purse Deal: Stella McCartney Crystal Evening Purse
I’m in love, and it only cost $180. Like always Stella McCartney has managed to win me over for this evening bag. Not only do I adore the framed shape but the diamante glittery rhinestone embellished detailing is to die for.

This Stella evening bag is available in the colors Pastel (above), winter White, and Azur Blue. Also, it’s not shown in the picture, but this bag comes with a removable 55″ long gold toned metal strap.

Stella McCartney’s Ladybird Appaloosa Boston | Louise Redknapp

Stella McCartney’s Ladybird Appaloosa Boston | View!
PETA supporter Stella McCartney is known for never using leather or fur in her work. The exterior of the bag is made of faux patent leather while the interior is lined in brown faux suede. My favorite features of this Ladybird Appaloosa tote is the signature Stella McCartney circle trinket and a smaller detachable patent purse with gold Stella McCartney embossed plaque – Oh I adore.

So you want to get your hands on the tote? Well no matter where you search whether it’s department stores Neiman Marcus or Saks fifth or even the Stella McCartney Boutique, you are going to get stuck on the waiting list for this Ladybird Boston. That is unless your name is Louise Redknapp (pictured below). Yeah, the lucky woman got her hands on the hot red patent Stella McCartney’s Ladybird Appaloosa Boston. I’m sure Stella McCartney celebrity fans such as Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Moss have theirs as well.

**Update: No waiting list at Net-a-Porter. go!

I have no idea whatsoever who Louise Redknapp is (without google-ing her name) but apparently she is someone special enough to skip the pre-order waiting list.

Stella McCartney Falabella Lace Chain Clutch | Mischa Barton

Stella McCartney (a strict vegetarian) will never use leather or fur in her designs. After Stella’s mother passed in April of 1998, Stella stepped up her fight against the maltreatment of animals, a cause Linda had always held dear.

For this Falabella Clutch, Stella McCartney (like always) ditches the leather for luxurious materials such as panther antique lace and silk satin to create this very sexy and feminine clutch – imo worth every penny.

Celebrity | Mischa Barton | Stella McCartney Falabella Lace Chain Clutch
How can you not love Miss Mischa Barton doesn’t, she just look gorgeous in this dress (cant think of the designer). The event was the annual Prince’s Trust Berkeley Square Summer Ball and the clutch purse of choice was the Stella McCartney Falabella Lace Chain Clutch.

Stella McCartney Metallic Mini Waist Bag

Stella McCartney | Metallic Mini Waist Bag
I am totally in love with this one. It’s the Stella McCartney metallic mini waist bag. Yes, I was an 80 / 90′s child, maybe that’s why when I see this wristlet I have the combined image of the infamous fanny pack and wristlet zip pouch. I love it! During elementary school days I had a hot pink, bright yellow and neon green zip wristlet, similar to this Stella McCartney mini wristlet in function, but nothing like it when it comes to style. The Silver metallic mini waist style bag bracelet is decorated with an eye-catching signature gold chunky chain link with signature emblem. The little sporty bracelet bag looks so perfect for those out-and-about days when not wanting to tote around a bag, just the right size for a few necessities.

If you want this Stella McCartney mini waist bracelet bag resting comfortably on the wrist then check it out at Net-A-Porter

Adidas by Stella McCartney | $80 | Check it Out!
Adidas? You betcha! If I saw someone walking down the street with this bag I would have not guessed it was designed by Adidas. When I think of Adidas I have the image of big duffle bags with the big ‘ADIDAS’ lettering across the front. Well, that image is no more after discovering this bag by Stella McCartney. If you like your sportswear sexy and feminine, you will adore the Stella McCartney collection for Adidas. Designed for the girl who wants to have a fashionable more girly gym bag that doesn’t ditch function for glam. All the McCartney’s signature designs with Adidas are skillfully designed to combine chic and purpose. This line not only includes bags but shoes, and apparel as well.

You must check out this Adidas by Stella McCartney Bhoulder Bag. I like!

About Designer Stella McCartney

December 2, 2005

Stella McCartney
Stella McCartney was born in London in 1971 to Beatle Paul McCartney and photographer wife, Linda. She graduated from St Martin’s in 1995 and her final year collection had the rare accolade of being bought by influential stores such as Browns, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. She launched her own line immediately on leaving college.

Her style of combining sharp tailoring with humour and sexy femininity was immediately apparent in her first collection. In 1997, after only two collections, she became the creative director of the house of Chloe in Paris. Chloe’s commercial success was stratospheric since her arrival and her collections and advertising campaigns for the house of Chloe were universally praised by both buyers and press.

Stella McCartney was awarded the VH1 / Vogue Fashion and Music 2000 Designer of the Year award.

In April of 2001 Stella McCartney resigned from Chloe and launched her own fashion house under her name in partnership with Gucci Group.

In October 2001 Stella McCartney showed her Spring/Summer 2002 Collection in Paris. Following the collection, Stella McCartney announced the launch of a perfume in 2003.

January 2002 Stella McCartney and Gary hume presented a collaboration of handmade t shirts and dresses at the Thaddeus Ropac Gallery in Paris. A silent auction was held on the night and the proceeds donated to RAWA.
