I know we are already well into the Fall 2013 season and we are already seeing the Spring 2014 collections on the runway, but I saw this piece on Net-A-Porter today and I just had to write about it. Yes, it is just that gorgeous! Straight from the Fall 2013 runway, meet the Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Ayers Bag!
Without knowing the back story of this collection before hand, I was already thinking “this looks like an old mosaic” when I first laid eyes on this handbag. Well it turns out that this collection was inspired by the golden mosaics of Sicily’s Cathedral of Monreale. The collection is filled with gilded and Cardinal red pieces. Everything just makes you go “wow”. And that includes this handbag. Every inch of this canvas handbag is covered with beads or sequins. The background in gold and the design is made up of blues and reds. At first, I wasn’t sure what I was looking at when I looked at the design. I am still not positive exactly what it is supposed to be, but it looks sort of Fleur de Lis-ish (turned sideways). Whatever it is supposed to be, the details of this piece are just so rich that it probably doesn’t really matter. What I mean is, everyone that sees this piece will likely be in such awe of the whole thing that they are not going to question what anything is supposed to be.
