“You Can’t Fake Fashion Bags” – The partnership began 3 years ago between eBay and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (aka CFDA) offering one-of-a-kind totes customized by 90 (you heard me, 90!) top fashion designers to raise awareness against counterfeit goods.
Time is running out. Less than 15 hours to go ~
Here are a few of my favorites, the most creative of the bunch that I’m following.
To celebrate Louis Vuitton‘s 100th anniversary of the monogram canvas in 1996, Louis Vuitton selected a handful of designers to create their own signature piece. One of the designers asked was Spanish shoe designer Manuel “Manolo” Blahnik Rodríguez.
His creation, an oval shoe trunk (obviously right?)
Twilight star Ashley Greene spotted on an evening out, walking Hollywood Boulevard with boyfriend Nick Jonas. For the evening stroll along the Walk of Fame, she carried along the Gerard Darel Besace Pom Sante Fe in gorgeous light grey suede. It’s also available in more durable (weather-friendly) leather, but the suede is just to die for.
AccessHollywood recently published an “On-Air” short clip of a few pointers to help with Birkin authenticity. It’s a great watch for those of you who are in the market for a Hermes Birkin, and rather than head to the Hermes boutique, going the other route such as eBay or Portero Luxury.
Are there designers you love, but just can’t afford one of their bags at the moment? Consider a little splurge on their special buys: coin purses! You can buy some of these little gems at a fraction of the cost of a handbag. What’s more, you can be a little more daring than you normally would be on a handbag too! They make wonderful gifts for your besties!
Louis Vuitton Coin Purse Chapeau
A little piece of Louis Vuitton would make any girl smile! The Monogram Vernis is just too fun and cute with its tiny little tassle and jewelry grade chain to clip inside your bag. The Pomme D’Amour, Rose Florentine and Amarante are jewel like shades of excitement to carry in your bag!
$390 at Louis Vuitton
or if you’re lucky for a Deal on eBay!
Marc by Marc Jacobs Anna Wintour Miss Marc Coin Purse
This darling little Miss Marc by Marc Jacobs is witty and fun! Black and white plaid with a fun little image of Miss Marc will make you smile as you make change! It’s petite size of 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ will fit in just about anything.
Just $45 at Saks Fifth Avenue
It’s been a while since we here at BagBliss featured an eBay auction, but this is one that I just couldn’t pass up telling you about. The Elle Portable Light Project sale features designer created solar panel purses that generate clean, sustainable energy, with 100% of the proceeds going to a charity!
(drooling over the Diane von Furstenberg tote! (pictured above). Current bid only $150!!)
The Portable Light Project is a non-profit initiative that provides solar kits to those in poorer countries who don’t have access to electricity by creating new, fashionably chic ways to deliver de-centralized renewable power and light to the developing world. And it doesn’t stop there, the team over at PLP even partnered up with non-government agencies to help train women to integrate the technology into fashion using their local textile materials and techniques. The end product is something amazing: culturally diverse bags, blankets and more that generate clean, sustainable energy and light, while supporting local economies.
These days, everyone is trying to save money. And people who love Louis Vuitton handbags are certainly no exception. One great way to save money is to buy pre-owned (AKA “pre-loved”) handbags on eBay, Bonazle, eCrater, or what have you. And with so many people out there trying to unload their luxury items for some quick cash, there are many great deals to be had. But is that Louis Vuitton handbag authentic? For the unwary shopper, these internet market places can be quite dangerous. So how can you avoid buying a fake? There are some things you can do to help lower your chances of getting stuck with a knock-off. Below you will find some tips on buying pre-owned Louis Vuitton handbags online.
When my fellow Bag Bliss blogger, Deysa, posted about the Marc by Marc Jacobs Animal Wristlets I thought they were kinda cute. Not something I would use as a wristlet, but I thought they would make adorable little makeup bags. I did, however, question how good ol’ Marc came up with the idea of animal-shaped wristlets. Were they part of something bigger? Well, as it turns out, they are actually part of the Flights of Fancy Collection which is new for this upcoming Fall season. The collection includes handbags, wristlets, coin purses, key chains, and even jewelry.
But wait just a minute! Cute little woodland creatures? Patchworks of fabrics seen in other collections? The Flights of Fancy Collection reminds me so much of Marc’s collaboration with artist Julie Verhoeven back in 2002. Does anyone recall the Louis Vuitton Conte de Fees Collection? Just in case anyone has forgotten, I have pictured below the Louis Vuitton Conte de Fees Beggars Bag.
Hmm… it seems to me that perhaps Marc has taken a little trip down memory lane. What does everyone else think? Personally, I think Marc Jacobs definitely took inspiration from the collection. And although the animals are cute, I think I will stick with just a small accessory and forgo adding one of the handbags to my collection. That mouse key chain is so freaking adorable!

Oh Daisy! When I visited Kohls today I was left in shock by your new remake of the popular, once referred to as the “Trash Bag” by Chanel. (The Trash Bag name was given by many in reference to the oversized unstructured high-gloss black patent vinyl version which debut back in Fall 2006).
Daisy isn’t the first (is it okay to refer to her as a designer?) to remake the design – Baby Phat, bebe, and forever21 are a few design brands that added the style to their collections. What’s the similarities? Not only is the oversize unstructured shape and cut of the bag identical, but check out the straps. Daisy replicated Chanel’s famous signature short chain hand-held straps.
Need help locating the Chanel Cabas? Browse the Chanel Cabas on eBay. There are tons of amazing deals.
The Daisy Fuentes look-for-less is available at Kohls where it’s on sale for $34.
What do some of you, dear BB readers think of Daisy Fuentes’ version?
Who is Daisy Fuentes? Once host of MTV Latin America, stared on ABC soap opera Loving, hosted her own talk show, then moved on to be the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos. She also has been spokeswoman for Revlon, American Express, Pantene, M&M’s, and Miller Lite. After all that was over, what’s next to add to the resume? Fashion designer..
Her recession-friendly priced clothing and accessory line are sold exclusively at Kohl’s Department Stores.
