Win a luxury purse hook by Mon Mode

Unlike all other purse hooks, the Mon Mode brand is pure luxury and is engineered to work – NASA approved! The purse hook design is simple but genius. Each piece is decorated with an Art Deco inspired gem top and the top flips open like a compact to reveal a double sided mirror. The weight of the gem is heavy enough to hold just about any purse without a second thought of it falling off the table. The rubber bottom helps keep it in place too. It fits on any table size and when not in use, folds up into a neat little 3″ x (just under) 2″ bundle. Each compact accessory also comes with a sleeper cover for care. The hook fits most bag straps.. when I was playing around in my bag closet with different bags varying in handle strap sizes I soon discovered that the double pipped handles of the Louis Vuitton Keepall didn’t work so well, but by hanging by just one strap worked fine. With all my other bags that I tested it out on over over the week, it worked perfectly. I posted a couple modeling pictures below of my Balenciaga Day in Cornflower, Chanel Cerf, and petite Fendi Spy.

Rebecca Minkoff trompe l’oeil Morning After Bag

I love handbags especially when I can find ones that match black and white wardrobe. Very rare to find a handbag that incorporates both colors so when I find some that do I squeal in excitement. Now when the handbag is black and white with a lot of room then I might scream even louder, since I tend to carry a lot of junk in my bag.

The Rebecca Minkoff Canvas Morning After Bag in Trompe l’oeil is the perfect bag for me. First and foremost, I’m obsessed with art and it kind of looks like a piece of art. The bag literally looks like someone painted or stitched it together to make it look like one of Rebecca Minkoff’s more expensive Morning After Bags. A Morning After Bag typically has a zipper compartment featured in front of the bag and more golden hardware on it.

Bag Wish List

Let’s face it, most of us shop based on want rather than need. Frankly, I deplore shopping for something that I NEED. It usually involves a hyper search through websites and local stores looking for something that I love an want to fill a basic need.

So, how do you assess what you really need? It’s really a process of evaluation and elimination. What do you have? What do you use? What needs repair? What need to go? Answering these essential questions, will help you figure out what you need and keep you focused on a goal rather than being distracted by all the beautiful an fun bags out there.

I’ll use myself as an example. My larger bags include a few that are beginning to see some wear and tear so it’s time to make decisions on what I repair or remove from my options. Every wardrobe needs a black, metallic, tan/brown and a pop of color at minimum in my opinion. I have these, but the tan/brown options are truly in need of repair or removal. With spring coming up soon, I feel I need to focus on this area as I will be using it the most. So, in a few simple observations, I’ve drilled down to my need: a brown toned medium to larger size bag with handles.

After that, it still isn’t easy to decide. Do I want dark brown to light tan? Do I want gold or silver-tone hardware (if any)? Cross-body, shoulder, top-handle? There are still dozens of choices to make. The brown bag I’ve carried the most is a Katherine Kwei double-top-handled Edna bag that I’ve practically destroyed, yet still gets compliments.

I’ve narrowed it down to these few options. The final stage of this courtship will be in-store actually putting it on, feeling the comfort an weight of the bag. Tell me what you think?

The Proenza Schuler PS11 is one of the hottest handbags right now. (bagbliss post: the new it bag?) In fact, getting my hands on one would be very difficult, but I’m drawn to it anyway! I love the richness of the brown leather and the structured design and beautiful hardware make it very attractive. The shoulder strap would be comfortable for both shoulder or even cross body carrying. It’s 11″ x 7″ x 4″ so it would carry everything I need, but it is a bit smaller than my typical day bags. Perhaps it is time to downsize? $1850

The Fendi Calfskin Silvana Tote is a lovely lay-bag that has such fine craftsmanship. It’s another flap bag an I haven’t owned one in a long time! I love the top handles and the long handle option. The leather is so rich looking and it has an interesting pebble grain on the sides of the bag to contrast with the smooth grain. Minimal hardware provides just the right accent. Not too dressy an not too casual. It’s $2090

Purse Trend: Mini Bags

Whether it’s a reaction to the economy, a growing plague of back & neck pain or simply a natural response to extremely oversized handbags, every major designer is showing a mini bag this season. Sure, they have had little bags for evening, the cross-body last season, but the mini bag for day is the next great thing. Or to use an over-tired analogy, the mini-bag is the new “black”.

There are so many great offerings out there it’s hard to choose for an review. You can obviously find sparkly and satin ones for evening, but leather, nylon and pony hair are readily available in a host of colors choices. Strap lengths can be long enough for cross-body, shoulder length or short. The beauty of a short strap mini-bag is that it is small & lightweight enough to easily carry securely on your forearm still rendering you hands-free when necessary. The user must be more particular about what they stash in their mini. Small wallets or card holders, a lipstick and your phone is about all you will carrying.

Blending classic lady-like chic with a touch or rocker studs, the Valentino Rockstud Small Leather Mini Bag is featured in a beautifully sophisticated sand color perfect for resort through summer. The silver accents up the ante by appealing to those of us ladies who have a little bit of edge. This 8″ x 4 1/2″ x 2″ bag is loaded with pockets to increase its functionality. There is an outside open pocket, an inside zip pocket and four inside open pockets all secured by a flap with a silver tone turn-lock closure. All of these details come with a price of $1395, but I think you will find that it will be in your wardrobe for many years to come. Also available in black.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Pretty Nylon Laptop Case

I recently purchased a brand new Mac Book Pro and I consider Mac the type of computer that you truly need to take care of because let’s face it, it’s an investment. I’ve been looking for months for the perfect case for it, and I’m still unsuccessful. Sure, there are some gorgeous designer cases that are over $500, by why spend that much for something that’s just going to hold your lap top?

When I came across the Marc by Marc Jacobs “Pretty” Nylon Computer Commuter Tote I thought it was really cute. I’m still not sure if this would be the case for my computer but I definitely liked it at first. I’m usually not a fan of anything that looks like a quilt but it was cool to see that item that looked like a purse was in fact a lap top case.
