Victoria Beckham Style: White Hermes Birkin + name that bag!

victoria beckham whie hermes birkin travel bag
It’s Mrs. Beckham, looking like a million bucks in her masculine yet chic outfit. If it weren’t for those fab accessories of hers, her look might of came off as a little on the boring side. I’m loving her aviators, the head gear, her luscious leather jacket, but most importantly, her handbags! Since the moment I spotted this photo of Mrs. Beckham at the LAX airport, I couldn’t get my eyes off of her stunning arm candies. I know that the true white piece with the shiny silver hardware is one of the many Hermes Birkins she can call her own.

Now I’m stumped on the classy black reptile skinned hobo of hers, so this is where you knowledgable Bagista’s jump in. I’m absolutely clueless on who designs the classy shoulder bag but I do know that it’s incredibly versatile as you can’t go wrong with a luxury leather bag in black. It appears to have a bit of a slouch and a round single shoulder strap. Minimal hardware is also nice as you can play around with your gold and silver jewelry’s without mixing too many metals at once.

Can you name Victoria’s bag?

The Birken Bag by Slow & Steady Wins The Race

The Birkin Bag by Slow & Steady Wins The Race
Take a second good look at this, as it’s not what it seems to be. I recently ran into this new clothing label Slow and Steady Wins the Race (yup, that’s its name), and I was utterly shocked at their latest handbag design, the 4 Sided Birken. No, I didn’t misspell anything, I’m not making this up, and I’m not pointing fingers either, but can you all see the resemblance to the French Couture Brand Hermes Birkin? Top handle straps, secure flap, square-ish silhouette, and leather body?!

I would never be caught dead carrying a fake and even designer inspired handbags are a big NO in my book. Clearly, the infamous Birkin inspired Slow and Steady’s version. It’s no surprise how a Hermes Birkin can cost the average person a kidney and their first born, surprisingly, the Slow & Steady’s Birken doesn’t run cheap as it carries a steep price tag of $1,100! Personally, I’d rather save my pennies for years to buy the original Hermes Birkin!

Ladies what’s your input on this bag? Do you feel like this is a designer inspired piece or a major coincidence instead? Only available in brown at the moment, shop Slow & Steady Wins The Race at: Revolve Clothing

Choosing a Classic designer Handbags

Choosing a Classic designer Handbags
Why do some handbags have the title “classic?” Are they named “classic” once a slew of women run to the stores to get that one bag on everyone’s wish list for that particular season? Or maybe they are named “classic” when women want the same handbag over and over again especially when it comes out in different patterns? Or maybe the most logical definition for a “classic” handbag is a bag that is worn year after year by women, becomes iconic in the fashion world, and never goes out of style.

Finding a classic handbag that will never go out of style is hard to find. It’s even harder when you are looking for that classic handbag that you will love forever and never get sick of. The best place to find an everlasting handbag is from a designer who has iconic handbags. Women always flock to the handbags that every girl wants, or that have been in style for years. Some of the designer brands that have classic handbags are Chanel, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, and YSL to name a few. Some people may not consider Marc Jacobs to be a classic handbag designer, but I beg to differ. When Marc Jacobs introduced the “Stam” handbag he provoked women across the globe to update their wish lists and dream about another gorgeous bag.

Don’t forget “classic” designer handbags cost a pretty penny so when looking for that special handbag, be sure you are looking for something you absolutely love. Just because everyone else loves it, doesn’t mean you too are going to love it for years to come. Most handbag loving women, like myself, sometimes impulse shop. You convince yourself you love that one handbag, you buy it, and a month later you HATE it! I’m always on a handbag budget and I always find that it’s best to “think” about a bag. I look at the bag numerous times on the computer, check it out at the store tons of times, and even try it on a few times to see if I’m absolutely in love with. What is the point of spending hundreds maybe even thousands on a handbag if you won’t wear it much? After many hard shopping impulses I have learned my lesson. If you think it’s a “classic” bag you will love forever, do some testing before you purchase it!

Some handbags that you never have to fear of being outdated are the: Chanel Classic Flap Bag; Chanel Large Shopping bag; Hermes Birkin; Louis Vuitton Alma; Louis Vuitton Speedy; and the YSL Large Tribute. This is a very tiny collection of some classic handbags in the fashion world, but there are much more out there. With a little research, and store visiting you too can find your favorite classic handbag to purchase.

Here are some of the bags, I listed above, that I consider classic:

There isn’t much to say about the Hermes Birkin, it pretty much speaks for itself. It’s gorgeous, and oh so classic. It’s very hard to get one, even if you are on a waiting list. Be careful though, there are many fakes out there! Gorgeous, and breathtaking.. what more is there to say.

Marc Jacobs Patchwork Stam Purse for the Blog

Find it at Saks Fifth Avenue or NetaPorter

Some people may not think Marc Jacobs can have the privilege of listing a bag as “classic” yet, but I disagree on all counts. No he hasn’t been around a ton of years, but he created one of the most memorable handbags that will be remembered for a long time to come. That handbag is the Stam. He brought out the: Quilted Stam; the Quilted Little Stam; and my favorite the Patchwork Stam (pictured above). He also has some beautiful Stam like bags coming out this fall. The Stam bag is gorgeous, spacious, and unique. What more could you want in a bag?

Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 Purse for the Blog

Shop Louis Vuitton Speedy’s

No one can deny that the Speedy by Louis Vuitton is a “classic” handbag. Audrey Hepburn made the Speedy (25) happen after it was made for her and ever since then it has been one of Louis Vuitton’s most popular handbags. The Speedy comes in many Louis Vuitton styles including Epi, Monogram Mini Lin, Monogram Multicolor, Damier Azur/Ebony, etc. The Speedy is definitely one of my favorite handbags, and it’s a handbag that will be around for years to come.

Hermes Bolide Overnight Bag

Hermes Bolide Overnight Bag
Without reading the title of this article, would you have ever guessed who the infamous designer of this overnight bag is? I definitely wouldn’t have, since this bag isn’t really the designer’s brands most popular style or design. In case you haven’t yet, meet the Bolide overnight bag, by French couture brand, Hermes.

Ahh… Everyday, I dream of that day where I’ll walk into a Hermes boutique, and hours later, leave with a big and heavy orange shopping bag. Unfortunately, I am nowhere near that day. Sigh. Although this is indeed a fact, I was a bit surprised to find an authentic Hermes, for sale, online (and not on eBay). The dome shaped leather bag is indeed different in comparison to Hermes most recognizable styles (Birkin and Kelly). This bag is also an overnight bag. Ladies, if I’m spending over 8K on a handbag, it better be an everyday/every-weather handbag! I will state that I’m not fond of the leather’s color, either. Yes, I do own quite a few brown handbags, but for that kind of money (and for an Hermes) I’ll be sure to find an eye-catching color to compliment a head-turning bag. If you can pull off a huge bag, and if you’ve got $7,560 to spend (it’s marked down 10%), head on over to BlueFly (dot com) and check this bag out, now.

Special Edition Hermes Kelly Bag: Proceeds to fight Aids in Monaco
Brief History: It all began in the 1880′s, when the legendary house began as making saddles under the name of Hermes-Freres. Then by the 1920′s Hermes introduced their first line of ladies handbags.

In 1956 while pregnant with Princess Caroline, Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco was photographed in New York City by Life Magazine carrying the large black crocodile Kelly bag, which was used to cover her pregnant tummy. After this image appeared on the cover of Life Mag, the bag became a hit and was later renamed the Kelly bag.

Hermes Special Edition Kelly Bag: Proceeds to fight Aids in Monaco
Hermes created a limited edition Kelly bag for Artcurial’s annual Hermes vintage sale, featuring a portrait of Grace Kelly printed on canvas.

Guess how much the bag sold for… $80,906, with all proceeds from the sale of the bag going to Princess Grace’s daughter Princess Stephanie’s charity Fight Aids Monaco.

Celebrity Style: Victoria Beckham White Hermes Birkin Handbag
As we all know, the white handbag is so in this season. It’s perfect actually. A neutral hue that isn’t difficult to match with your articles of clothing. Just like every girl should own that simple black handbag, I feel the same way towards its compliment, the white handbag. Let me ask you girls this question. What is hotter than a white handbag this season? Why an all white Hermes Birkin of course! If you’re a fan of the French brand Hermes, then you definitely agree with my statement. Unfortunately, right now with my limited student budget, I can only daydream of owning my very own piece of French luxury, unlike the infamous Mrs. Victoria Beckham who is probably one of Hermes top customer of all times. What a diva Mrs. Beckham is, right? Whether she’s stocking up on Rodeo Drive or taking her boys to the park, I swear she always looks fabulous. If you have the extra moolah lying around, I believe putting it towards a Hermes handbag is not a bad idea at all. Their exquisite pieces live up to their name and in the long run; you’ll be carrying one true (and amazing) investment.

Hollywood’s New Bag Queen: Eva Longoria Parker
Hollywood has many bag queens…Victoria Beckham, Jessica Simpson, Kate Moss. Now joining the ranks of these elite Hollywood bag queens is Eva Longoria Parker. She has taken her stylish fashion sense from Wisteria Lane off the screen. Whether she is walking her dog, going to a red carpet even, or in France with Tony, she is always seen carrying one of the season’s hottest bags. Her bags are always the perfect touch to her stylish clothes. They match her shoes and compliment her outfits so well.

In an interview with Instyle.com, she revealed the contents of her 133-square foot closet and it included many, many, many bags including a coveted hot pink crocodile Hermes Birkin bag. Of the Birkin bag, her stylist advised her to “wear it with everything? because it was going to be handed down in her will. She’ll have plenty more to hand down in her will. Every day she is seen with a different bag by a different designer…Gucci, Hermes, Dior, you name it, she’s got it. Looks like a new bag queen is in town!
