Accessories De Mademoiselle: The Inspired-by Hermes Birkin Bag

Accessories De Mademoiselle: The Inspired-by Hermes Birkin Bag
pictured above: American Actress Meredith Monroe (best-known for her role as Andie McPhee on Dawson’s Creek) was recently spotted with the Accessories De Mademoiselle Purse.

We here at Bag Bliss understand that money doesn’t grow on trees and not everyone can afford luxury designer handbags like the Hermes Birkin, which will set you back about $8k for just a basic leather version. This is why many designers try their best to produce handbags that imitate the features and characteristics, without crossing the knockoff line into the replica zone. Those bags that are considered inspired-by are, in most occasions, found for a fraction of what the designer bag would cost. This bag for instance is the Hermes-Birkin-inspired bag by Accessories De Mademoiselle (a handbag company out of Tokyo Japan) which can be discovered at yoox carrying a price tag of only $378.

Victoria Beckham and her Hermes Baccara Crocodile Clutch

Victoria Beckham and her Hermes Baccara Crocodile Clutch
The “Posh Victoria Beckham was spotted at fashion week dressed in a bold Oscar de la Renta green and black mini, wearing Givency heels, spotting oversized sunglasses from her own DVB line, and toting around her vibrant emerald green Hermes Baccara Crocodile Clutch.

I’ve never seen Victoria with this gem-colored Baccara before. But that’s not too surprising since she has one of the biggest Hermes collections in the whole world (not exaggerating).

Naomi Campbell will design a purse for Hermes
The Birkin bag was named in honor to Jane Birkin, the Kelly bag was named in honor to Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco, and now the Campbell bag to be named after maid-beater Naomi Campbell (?). Interesting if true, but that is in fact the rumor circulating throughout the bag-community.

side note: I am unsure if the name of the new bag is going to be named “Campbell. This news is still fresh and no details have been published yet in the news.

Stay tuned for an up date….

The Simpsons hit Paris in style! With the movie about to debut worldwide (7.27.2007) the family decided to jump on plane and explore Paris. While there, the family went on a fashion adventure with Bart’s favorite supermodel Linda Evangelista.

Victoria Beckham Saving Her Designer Bags For Baby Girl

Victoria Beckham Saving Her Designer Bags For Baby Girl
Like most celebrities Victoria Beckham has such a big wardrobe of clothes (especially handbags and denims) that this recent LA Beverly Hills resident had to have a special extra room set aside in her new ($22-million, 13,000-square-foot Italianate) home for her collection. A collection so massive and spectacular that she has decided to keep all of her designer purses, even though she doesn’t wear most of them, in the hopes that one day she will have a daughter to pass along to.

In a LA Times article published a couple days ago, the designer-purse-loving mum of 3 young boys (Brooklyn, 8, Romeo, 4, and Cruz, 2) Victoria Beckham, recently told the Los Angeles Times newspaper, “I think of them (bags) as an investment. Someday, when I’m lucky enough to have a girl, I will pass them along to her.” Me too, VB, totally, me too. Not the Coach or Dooney ones of course, but the Hermes, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel ones are definite keepers (vintage chanel is gold in my book).

Click here to read the rest of the LA Times article about VB coming to America!

side note: I don’t know if you have read the article yet, but I was a bit confused when she said that she “recently purchased a Hermes fuchsia ostrich Birkin at an auction. Well because she has been spotted with that bag since 2004 (uuhhhu).

Reusable Shopper: Hermes Silky Pop Handbag

Reusable Shopper: Hermes Silky Pop Handbag
We have an update on the Hermes Silky Pop Totes I mentioned a while back… the bags are finally available at Hermes boutiques all over the world and at hermes.com!

The newbie is made of hand-wrought silk that’s decorated with a beautiful Hermes signature print. When not in use it easily folds up and collapses into a wallet-size calfskin pouch. To be honest when I first heard about this new addition to the House I wasn’t that excited. I guess I pictured some plain canvas shopper tote. But after seeing the gorgeous elaborate prints (much like the scarves) I was left in awe.

A spokesman for the designer house of Hermes said that the “Silky Pop Hermes bag is an upscale option to the extra fold-up shopping bag that many European women already carry in their purses. And that this is the ideal tote if “Say you’re out walking. You decide to pick up a few apples, you pull out your bag. (But she quickly added) Though obviously, Hermes clients usually aren’t shopping for their own groceries.

Designer Gardening: Hermes Garden Party Tote

June 6, 2007

Designer Gardening: Hermes Garden Party Tote
Planning a Garden Party? Check out the unlined cotton linen Garden Bag that recently popped up on the Hermes.com site. The Garden Party is made out of cotton linen with leather trim, and features a detachable shoulder strap and a single snap-button closure which pops open to reveal the unlined interior. Of course this bag has many other uses then if you were planning on attending a garden party and wanted to show off you taste for Hermes-goodies. My favorite is the smallest size, it’s cute and just the right measurements to use as a carry-on, daily casual tote, beach bag, or what ever your heart desires. But of course it’s going to cost you a pretty penny since the Hermes name is attached. Personally if I was planning on snatching up one of the Hermes Garden Party Purses I would first browse the virtual shelves of eBay – there are some current sweet deals on this bag!

What do you guys think? A yay or nay?

Location of Sale:
Hermes.com – $1,350 to $1,550
eBay.com – $549 to $1,850

Reusable Shopper: Hermes Silky Pop Bag

Reusable Shopper: Hermes Silky Pop Bag
Have you caught on to the go-green, ditch the plastic bags trend yet?

According to the Washington Post, Hermes is following in the footsteps of Anya Hindmarch and catching on to this new style of creating reusable shopping bags. But I’m warning you, the bags come at a step price. A step price of almost $1k. Are you surprise? No it’s Hermes.

The Silky Pop Hermes bag is made of hand-wrought silk that easily folds up and collapses into a wallet-size pouch of calfskin.

A spokesman for the designer house of Hermes said that the “Silky Pop Hermes bag is an upscale option to the extra fold-up shopping bag that many European women already carry in their purses.â€? (will go on sale in the U.S. this summer) And that this is the ideal tote if “Say you’re out walking. You decide to pick up a few apples, you pull out your bag. (But she quickly added) Though obviously, Hermes clients usually aren’t shopping for their own groceries.â€?

Right, so that’s exactly what I would use a reusable tote for. If I’m walking past Pike Street Market or something and I’m in the mood to snatch up some fruit then I would love to use a reusable designer tote – probably not Hermes $1k Silky Pop but rather the super cheap $15 Anya Hindmarch bag. Other then that I probably wouldn’t use it, since it would be a rare occasion for me to go grocery shopping. And when I do go, it would be to Costco where they give you boxes to pack your groceries.
