Louis Vuitton Artsy MM

By now, most of you out there are probably familiar with the “new” tribal look for Summer 2010. Just recently, I provided a very colorful description of the look when I introduced the JADEtribe Nina Clutch. And although that clutch is an excellent example of the “typical” tribal accessory, it doesn’t mean that that is the only way of going about it. What I find really intriguing is how big fashion houses have found ways to incorporate elements of the tribal look into some of their own pieces, while still staying true to their own style. A great example of this is the Louis Vuitton Artsy MM, which made its debut a few months ago.

This bag is understated bohemian style at its best! I love the slouchy, hobo shape and the key holder/bag charm that hangs gracefully down the side of the bag. And that handle! Oh, that handle is gorgeous! The braiding detail is simply exquisite! But what I love most about this bag is how it was done in the classic monogram canvas. Who would have thought that a monogram bag could be so, well, tribal! This bag would be perfect for someone who wants to dip her toes into the whole tribal thing without the risk of looking too trendy. This bag could easily transition into another look too, so there’s no need to worry about it looking dated in a couple of months!

The Louis Vuitton Artsy MM can be purchased from Louis Vuitton’s official website, where it retails for $1,400. Also available is the Artsy GM.

And look for great deals on pre-owned Louis Vuitton handbags at Portero.com or the Artsy Section of eBay!

I love this bag, but when I tried it on in person it wouldn’t stay on my shoulder.

I would love to add this bag to my collection, but I hate the huge size. I wish it was smaller.

I like the style of this bag, just not crazy for the monogram print. Would love to see it in something else. Possibly, damier.

At first I didn’t like this bag at all, then I went to LV and was looking at all their new stuff when the SA came up to me with this bag and said I must try it on. So I did and instantly fell in love. Yes, it’s in my closet as we speak :)

I have this bag and it’s amazing. Alot of people complain about the shoulder band sliding, but in my opinion it’s not really bothering to me. It’s definitely one of those bags you have to try on in person.
