Marc Jacobs has once again been experimenting with his diffusion line. This time around, he has placed a lot of emphasis on black and white designs. The first few black and white pieces I saw were actually quite mundane. You know… color blocking, polka dots, and stripes. But then I saw the bag you see pictured here and I instantly took notice. Introducing the Marc by Marc Jacobs Lip Lock Bag! It’s the perfect way to add a dose of graphic boost to your wardrobe.
The Marc by Marc Jacobs Lip Lock Bag has dots on the flap, stripes on the front pocket, and abstract shapes on the body. But if you look closely, you will see that all of these patterns are not in the traditional sense. In fact, they look like they were created through brush strokes. This is particularly true for the stripes, which appear to be meticulously painted on. The abstract shapes look like they were created using water color. And the dots? They looks like dribbles of paint on a canvas. Together, the different patterns are a hodgepodge of art deco. Translation = VERY Marc Jacobs! I love the playfulness of this bag. Yet, it is also tame enough to wear with a variety of outfits. This piece would pair nicely with other black and white pieces or bold pops of color. You can’t go wrong!
