Marc Jacobs Bal Harbor Julie Bag
When I think about the latest bags by the Marc Jacobs Collection, I think luscious leather, bold colors and extra add-on’s that will distinct your MJ’s from others. It seems like the odder it is, the better. But to my surprise, the Bal Harbor Julie bag looks quite different from all its other siblings. It lacks the quirkiness, an inventive silhouette and color… lots of it!
So as I feast my eyes on this boxy shaped flat tote, I can’t decide if I’m digging this very simple look or if I prefer the Jacobs designs as we know them. This natural grained framed tote shows the classic side Marc Jacobs has in him.
But as a long time fan, I’ve been exposed to textured leathers, quilted patterns and thicker chains on Marc Jacobs classics, that this Julie bag can never compete with. This is ideal for the minimalist bagista who wants a lightweight tote that can transition from the office to the shopping environment, without the shoulder aches. Of course you can’t ignore the shiny tassel dangling at the side, and for a change, the interior of this bag is a lot more vibrant than its exterior. $1,250 is the asking price for this taupe tote, and you can preorder it now through: Saks Fifth Avenue

Simple, but that’s why I like it. Hm, not sure how I would feel without the tassel though.
I love how simplistic the design is. This is definitely a bag that you could have and wear for years.
This bag is gorgeous!
Is this bag named after a SA at the Bal Harbor boutique? I’m curious now
I can’t believe it. He CAN actually do subdued and it looks great. I’m impressed. I have not enjoyed a bag of his in some time. I guess that makes me a minimalist.
I don’t like it for the MJ brand. I wear my MJ bags because I love the quirkiness and individualism of them. I love loud, obnoxious colors so Marc pretty much fits the bill for me.
If I want minimalism, I would go with a Valextra. This is boring, and I hope that this is the exception and not the rule. To be honest, this looks old and dowdy.
