Marc Jacobs Castoro Beaver Shoulder Bag

Marc Jacobs and his collection makes it on my top three of my all time favorite designers. Most of his goods are a win in my book… and then there is his “other” stuff. Feast your eyes on the Castoro Beaver Fur Shoulder Bag, a piece that arrives as freaky as any fur bag could possibly get. Although a handbag with fur on it would never make my collection, I can admire a piece that’s reasonably attractive for its exotic appeal… but this is simply horrid.

This style is definitely wild and needs to remain in its natural habitat or at the zoo and away from the runway. I can’t find anything attractive about this piece, and the attempt to create a masterwork by combining a classic flap design with padlock décor and beaver pellets is quite bothersome. Where to carry this chained beaver to? Definitely not in my neck of the woods, but even if there was an appropriate place to carry this to, with the $2,250, the Castoro bag would be the last piece I would consider splurging that much on. So ladies, what is your input on this fur piece, and would you actually carry this?

Never in a million years will I even touch this bag!
I hate fur or its use for accessories…If you kill an animal and its future family, it better be to eat!!
Can’t understand the reason for this ugliness!
MJ are you out of your freaking minds??!!

I don’t like this bag one bit. Maybe it’s the color, not so attractive hardware, and is it just me, or does the leather part look scratched already.

Just for my own curiosity. Does this bag come in other colors?

While I agree that Marc Jacobs is one of the best designers of all time, I would never come close to this bag.

Geez, I appreciate you’re always trying to push the envelope MJ, but TOO WEIRD!

That’s so expensive for such a bag.

Is this an older style? I thought I’ve seen this before.. a while back.

If this was a clutch, without the shouldstrap, then maybe. With it, it just looks like one big mess.

I love fur. However, this bag kind of makes my skin crawl. I am a huge Marc Jacobs fan, but this year, he has really gone a step too far.
I hope that we don’t have to read anymore from the anti-fur police. We get it. And, it’s getting old.

Oh yah, like PETA wanting Coach to stop selling fur. Ridiculous.

I think this bag is quite scary..It was definitely a risk!

I was hoping that I could find this bag in like a gray and white version. That sounds much more prettier than this dirty brown one. hehe.

It just looks so not me. I love fur, but this is just not a bag I would wear.

I would never wear fur and neither should any of you! Do you know what they do to the animals!

The animals are beaten, drowned, electrocuted, and skinned alive. It’s disgusting.

Maybe someone should skin M.J. and wear HIS stuff on their bag.

Ugh this is super ugly and is this actual beaver b/c I think those are endangered??

I have to agree with you that Marc Jacobs is one of the best designers. This bag is just some kind of a big mistake. Horrible. I would not even stop by in the store and take a look at not talking about touching it. They should not let it go on the runway. It’s a big NoNo on my side.
