Happy Holidays from Mr. Marc Jacobs! For the festive seasons, the House of Marc introduces a luscious leather fundamental that’s both attractive and haul-friendly. The Classic Wellington is just that… classic! Buttery soft leather composes a sturdy and attractive silhouette that can be carried from the office to your afternoon shopping destination.
Up for grabs this season is the Color block tote by the Marc Jacobs Collection. Everything about the color block trend is stimulating, especially when the hue choices are bold and complimentary. You have to deliver cleverness if you want a piece to magnify an attractive palette, and us bagista’s know that if someone delivers this concept finely, it is no other than Mr. Jacobs himself. To our surprise, this retro-inspired tote is a little short on the charm and arrives quite dull.
When you’re looking for a pop of color, you can never go wrong with a red handbag. Not only are they eye catching, they are very versatile as well. Red goes with a surprisingly large variety of colors and actually is the perfect choice for a basic style upon which a wardrobe can be built. Even better is that red comes in a variety of shades and looks good on a number of fabrications, so there are choices out there to suit just about anyone’s taste. My favorite right now? Candy apply red that is so glossy and yummy looking that you almost want to eat it!
New York City born fashion designer who established an upscale couture line under his name, diffused a modern cool collection, and holds the title of creative designer to the prestigious French luxury brand Louis Vuitton, of course we’re talking about no other than Marc Jacobs.
Since his grandmother taught him how to knit early on, his interest in fashion flourished. Jacobs studied at Parsons School of Art and Design in New York and later started designing for Perry Ellis. He was let go after designing a collection of “grunge” for Ellis, but success came to him after being awarded a New Fashion Talent award by The Council of Fashion Designers of America. He carried on to his own line the Marc Jacobs Collection that became an instant hit within the fashion and celebrity world. Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Victoria Beckham, Dakota Fanning and Linda Evangelista are just some of the many fans to both his Collection line and his funky cool Marc by Marc Jacobs line.
From the quirky designs of his diffusion line to the timeless classics of his regular collection, Marc Jacobs always has a little something for everyone. So what am I in the mood for right now? I think I’m feeling the need for something chic and refined! That’s why I am loving the new Marc Jacobs Minetta Bag! I can feel myself being drawn in, almost like it’s calling to me!
I have always thought that classic black and white looks chic on a handbag! It is a great way to make a bold statement without the use of flashy colors. So of course, the Marc Jacobs JJ Patent Leather Clutch was going to grab my attention! What I didn’t expect, however, is what I saw when I went in for a closer look!
Instead of that modern look you see with most black and white handbags, the Marc Jacobs JJ Patent Leather Clutch has a really vintage-y feel to it. Just look at that black acrylic starburst embellishment perched neatly on the flap closure! Resembling an over-sized brooch, it sort of reminds me of my grandmother’s costume jewelry. Interestingly, the look was softened a little bit with a woven ribbon-like embellishment that serves as an anchor for the acrylic starburst.
Net-a-Porter isn’t the only designer boutique trying to get rid of last seasons bags by slashing prices in the neighborhood of 40% off retail. Over at My Theresa they just added a bunch of items by Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs (and Marc by Marc Jacobs), Yves Saint Laurent, Chloe, and more to the sale section – which includes more than just bags – accessories, designer shoes and clothing are on sale!

When I think about the latest bags by the Marc Jacobs Collection, I think luscious leather, bold colors and extra add-on’s that will distinct your MJ’s from others. It seems like the odder it is, the better. But to my surprise, the Bal Harbor Julie bag looks quite different from all its other siblings. It lacks the quirkiness, an inventive silhouette and color… lots of it!
So as I feast my eyes on this boxy shaped flat tote, I can’t decide if I’m digging this very simple look or if I prefer the Jacobs designs as we know them. This natural grained framed tote shows the classic side Marc Jacobs has in him.
When talking about handbags and Jessica Stam’s name comes up, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? For most people it would be the “It bag” of 2006-07, the Marc Jacobs Stam. As the name suggests the bag was named after the Canadian supermodel. Well, that was then. Now.. her name is back in the bagosphere with her latest collaboration with fashion designer Rachel Roy.
