They say blue is the new black. But this Marc Jacobs 2010 Rockstar Clutch is blue AND black! What a fun combination! You would definitely have the best of both worlds with this beauty! It’s a little difficult to tell from the picture, but the main body of this clutch constructed of black hide (= pony hair). The leather flap at the front features a blue and gold houndstooth pattern, which I find to be quite stunning. You don’t see a lot of houndstooth when it comes to handbags, but I think Marc did very well.
Every bagista needs at least one classic-looking handbag in her wardrobe. Something that can be worn with just about anything, without the fear of looking too trendy or dated. Something that can stand the test of time. Normally, I would say that this is the kind of bag where you should plan on making a real investment. But if you’re looking to pick up a chic, classic handbag at an incredible price… then look no further than the Marc Jacobs Rose Flap Bag! Right now, Nordstrom has this beauty on sale for 40% off the regular price!
I really like this bag because it has that classic Marc Jacobs look with its little flap pockets and push-lock closures. However, this bag also has its own unique look. The large flap closure gives the Marc Jacobs Rose Flap Bag a very refined appearance, while the exposed zip gussets add a little bit of versatility. It is quite distinct from other styles, such as the Blake or the Lisa.
All my life, I’ve been a devotee to leather handbags. Only straying to fabric bags for the good old diaper bag or beach bag and perhaps a utilitarian tote. I turned up my nose at canvas, satin, nylon and other non-leather bags. Oh, yes! I was a snob about Prada nylon too! I now have to apologize, admit I was small-minded and must re-frame my opinions! There are so many great new (and durable) fabrics in handbags that deserve a second look. Designers that were entrenched in leather now embrace nylon and other materials. It could be that they were simply looking for less expensive alternatives than leather or even more eco-friendly materials, but I believe they’d made some great design choices as well!
Yves Saint Laurent Muse
Yes, the classic Muse bag is now available in nylon! Same great shape and style for $1195. The leather version is $1550. Not a significant different, but it looks great just the same! Perhaps you can pick up a great pair of sandals for the difference?

Marc Jacobs and his collection makes it on my top three of my all time favorite designers. Most of his goods are a win in my book… and then there is his “other” stuff. Feast your eyes on the Castoro Beaver Fur Shoulder Bag, a piece that arrives as freaky as any fur bag could possibly get. Although a handbag with fur on it would never make my collection, I can admire a piece that’s reasonably attractive for its exotic appeal… but this is simply horrid.
Lilac, plum, eggplant, mauve, orchid. Purple! I am seeing purple everywhere! When paired with monochromatic outfits, a bold splash of purple can really be worn with most colors. Black, Beige, White, Brown, Navy, Yellow, Red. Go simple or go bold! Everyone needs a great splash of color to go to every now and then. Why not make it purple?
Beginning with this spring’s Bottega Veneta collection featuring it’s delicious shade of orchid, purple has become a strong color with many major designers. The Bottega Veneta mini-woven shoulder bag is just one of the iconic brand’s styles you can find in orchid for $750. The Woven Leather Tote for $1980 an incredible daytime look that will definitely have you feeling like summer.
Anya Hindmarch’s handbags offer tailored sophistication with a bit of cuteness in her simple bow logos. Her purple offering at just $295 is an inexpensive option to get that luscious “pop” of violet to go with any outfit!
The Christian Louboutin Tinzita Shoulder Bag is a striking origami-influenced patent calf leather bag with tassle trim and the signature red lining. If you haven’t looked at these bags before, check them out on your next visit to their boutique or Saks. You will be impressed by the quality and detail. I especially love the little double-stiletto clasps! At $995, this bag will be an instant classic to punch up your evening looks.
The Jen satchel is one of my favorite bags by Marc Jacobs. The design is simple and classic, plus its available in so many colors for whatever the mood. My favorite to date is the midnight jet blue. Just see how gorgeous the bag is while in action – pictured above with actress Claire Danes while out and around Hollywood dressed in a two-tone ’50s-inspired number and accessorized with nude slingbacks and Marc Jacobs fabulous Jen!

Attention Marc Jacobs fans, there is a new Stam in town. Will we ever see the end of the Stam family? The latest arrival is the Parachute Stam, a theme that was not seen in this line yet. The infamous satchel arrive with an extra puffed up silhouette of platinum colored crinkles that is sure to catch mixed attention. In case you are wondering what the glossy luster is, it is in fact good ole’ PVC, and although to most bagista’s, PVC isn’t the material of choice, I’d say this piece would last you a couple of bangs for the time being.
When fellow blogger BRS mentioned the NY Rocker Stam by Marc Jacobs a while back, the majority of the crowd definitely agreed that the infamous Stam looked awesome dressed up in extra sequins and studs. Just when you thought Marc Jacobs couldn’t make the Rocker Stam any cuter, he introduces its miniature version, the New York Rocker Little Stam.
I find this piece absolutely adorable; if the original Stam size is a bit too blingy for your taste, then this size might be the right one for you. The Little Stam carries the same kiss lock closure, wide opening, and chain-linked strap as all its other Stam ancestors do, yet it’s found compact in this miniature model.
