Marissa’s Favorite Handbag of 2011: Michael Kors Joan Bag
I’m sure it comes as no surprise when I say my favorite handbag of 2011 was by none other than Michael Kors. In the past two years I have went from loving multicolored handbags to being obsessed with black leather handbags that feature gold hardware. Every time I see any type of handbag in this color combination I literally squeal!
When Michael Kors released the “Joan” satchel, I was instantly in love. Yes, it wasn’t my typical color combination of black leather and gold hardware but it was truly a beautiful bag. I’ve always been one for satchels and the style of this one was impeccable. The “Joan” really gives off a classy and sophisticated style and because of that I fell in love with it.
The meaning of this handbag really touched my heart too. Michael Kors specifically designed this handbag for his Mother and decided to release it for Mother’s Day. When my Mother told me this, I knew I had to purchase it for us to share. There is nothing better than a Mother and daughter bond especially when it comes to fashion.

While we were wandering around Bloomingdales at the Aventura mall in Miami in June, I saw “Joan” sitting on a shelf. I loved it more in person and purchased it. I literally used it for about a week until I went in Dillards and spotted “Joan” in my favorite color combination ever! Yes, the “Joan” handbag was sitting on a shelf at Dillards in black leather with gold hardware. I kid you not, I screamed at the top of my lungs right in the store. I couldn’t believe it! Of course, I had no self control and I bought it. Now I’m the proud owner of two “Joan” handbags and I couldn’t be happier.
Ever since I bought both of the purses, I have used them almost everyday. They go with so many different outfits and look amazing during the day or evening. It’s truly a classy and stunning versatile handbag. It’s not too casual but not to fancy, I consider it to be perfect. Even the little lock add’s a special touch to “Joan”.
I absolutely love Michael Kors for designing the “Joan” satchel. My Mother and I love it and I’m so happy I was able to snag both of them. I’ve seen them at discount designer stores for a much more affordable price that I bought them at. If you can get your hands on one, I highly recommend you purchase it. I promise you, it will become one of your favorite handbags that you’ve ever purchased, at a decent price!

Try TJ Maxx and Marshall’s if you want one. I bought a grayish green one at a great price at TJ Maxx about a month ago. They had other a gray croc, too.
It’s the most expensive bag I’ve ever bought, and I adore it. Love, love, love the color. Goes with everything, too.

Go to either TJ Maxx or Marshall’s, and they have them for @ $180 in various colors. I even saw an embossed one. It’s not for me, but it is a beautiful bag.
