Prada hasn’t really been on my radar these last few months, maybe even longer. Those basic structured pieces are fab for sure. But after seeing the same thing over and over again, you kind of start just glancing over them as you browse through the sea of handbags. We are already well into July and it is 100 degrees outside. It’s hot and humid, the typical summer weather for where I live. I can definitely tell you that fur is the farthest thing from my mind right now. It makes me hot just looking at it! But I think my fellow Bag Bliss blogger, Deysa, was on to something when she presented the Prada Eco Mongolia Garden Tote. From the look of things, fur is going to be the thing for Fall 2011. Not just any fur, but faux fur. I think I agree with Deysa, definitely not something you would imagine coming from the creative minds behind our favorite premium designer brands.

The Italian Couture House of Prada has a new furry suggestion to carry on arm. Ditch the fussy puppy and if you dare, give this fuzzy handbag a try – the Prada Eco Mongolia Garden Tote. So much furry disorder is going on in this piece. It looks like something I wouldn’t typically look at twice, but upon further inspection of this piece, one unexpected detail caught my attention.

What looks like an orb of exotic fur actually claims to be eco friendly, that is; the tote is made of faux fur. Quite a surprise as Prada is known to compose some very exotic pieces with fine furs in past collections. If you’re a fur advocate you may dislike the faux fur feel, while a fur activist who dares to wear something out of their ordinary taste, could actually sport this, guilt free.

Prada recently added the made-to-order “Lettering” service exclusively on prada.com and in twelve Prada stores worldwide.

Customize everything from everyday backpacks and shopping totes to travel trolleys in saffiano leather or camouflage print, customized with multicolored initials. Each letter has been matched with a color and a graphic motif, also in saffiano leather.

I like it when a designer goes beyond their typical style by feeding the consumer something that’s noticeably out of the ordinary such as the House of Prada accounts for with their latest design; meet the Denim Hobo.

Prada had to be aware that this particular piece would get people talking as it’s too unusual for it not to spark a conversation in the world of fashion. In case you’re wondering what exactly is going on here, the Italian house presents your typical hobo bag silhouette lined with a textile that isn’t necessarily their first, second or third most popular choice.

What you see there is denim that arrives in a true shade of bright French Blue. This is most definitely the most casual handbag they’ve created in a while. You’re bound to either love this or hate it, and if you’re a fan, this can effortlessly be your casual weekend accessory. The problem is that a handbag for such informal measures shouldn’t carry a price tag of $1,450.

Prada bags have fairly classic styling. It’s not difficult to identify them when you catch a glimpse of one of their bags. That’s not the case with their Spring offerings. A marriage of materials with a touch of whimsy are eye-catching and just the right transition into resort.

The Lino Twist Frame Shoulder Bags offer a blend of linen, lambskin, python or croc accents in a way that just happens to work. These are smaller bags in the 10″ x 7 ” X 3″ or 11″ x 6″ x 4″ range. Perfect for luncheons or that evening yacht club party. Personally, I think you could pull it off with some sophisticated dark denim and darling tops suitable for cocktails.

The turquoise and lime green accents are going to be two of the major colors of the season. Prada is right on trend with that selection. For those who love exotic bags but can’t afford the whole bag at $3 – $5K a pop, these are a great option by utilizing it as an accent. I’m loving how the python pops in turquoise and the croc clasp accent is simply darling. Such a beautiful detail! Lime green suede is somehow the perfect accent with the natural colored python.
