OohiLove Closed

If you frequently browse the penny luxury auction site OohiLove and went for a visit today hoping to score some “Christian Louboutin pumps for only $5″ or a “Louis Vuitton handbag for only $8″(it didn’t really work like that), then you were smacked in the face with an unpleasant message,

Dear oohilovers,
It is with regret that we announce oohilove.com, an Entertainment Shopping Inc. company, is closing its doors.
We would like to thank you for your support.
Best,
oohilove

They went bankrupt and decided to close their doors. As I reported my experience over on TheBagForum, on the 30th I received a note from ScoreLuxe (a company that OIL sold our information to) that OohiLove’s parent company, Entertainment Shopping AG, filed for bankruptcy and the oohilove Live Bidding Auctions website will be shut down. No mention of this on the OIL website and I never received an email from them, in fact they were still selling gift cards and bid packs.

In an email I received from ScoreLuxe:

Currently, you have 302 bids in your OohiLove account. By joining ScoreLuxe.com and buying any bid pack, we will credit you with 302 additional bids into your ScoreLuxe.com account. These bids can then be used on all upcoming auctions at ScoreLuxe.com, featuring marquis brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Neiman Marcus, Chanel and much more.

TO CLAIM YOUR OOHILOVE BIDS YOU NEED TO:
Go to ScoreLuxe.com and sign up for a free account. Please put OOHILOVE in the coupon code field.

Buy any bid pack (starting at 30 bids for $29.70).
Within 24 hours, we will verify your account information and add 302 bids to your account.

About ScoreLuxe.com and Why We’re Different:
We understand you may have concerns about ScoreLuxe, considering what happened with OohiLove. We would like you to know that we have been in business since September 2010 and have sophisticated risk management policies in place to ensure our continued viability. We are a technology focused firm and only auction items that we have in-stock. We ship all wins within 7 days, carry no debt, and our focus on our continued viability has enabled us to grow 50% month over month in 2011.

So basically in order to access your OIL bid packs, you would have to buy one of ScoreLuxe’s bid packs. Not going to happen. But what really irritates me the most about all of this is the fact that OIL never once emailed their users about this and that they continued to sell gift cards up to the moment of closing down.

Fast forward less than 24 hours later after receiving that email from ScoreLuxe and the site is no longer active, only a splash page informing members the site is closed down.

Let me hear your thoughts. Were you affected by this?

I never shopped that site. If it sounds too good to be true, it mostlikely is. :ermm:

I bet those who won aren’t going to get their stuff either. :getlost: That site looked so sketchy.

    Oh but I won something.

lol, just kidding. This is tbf’er I_A_D.. I was just commenting on what you said over in TBF. I was always wary of the site just because of the names of people bidding and previous winners.

Oh yes, I was affected by this. And I’m pissed off. I bought a bid pack 4 days ago. Not happy at all.

I’m hoping this is just one big F*ing April Fools joke! I did not receive that email you posted above.. in fact if I did I wouldn’t have spent $100 bidding on a Louis Vuitton bag! :pouty:

My wife also had outstanding bids but I am afraid they are gone. This is a pretty typical response from Penny Auction sites that go out of business. They just disappear. It is a really bad business practice but most of the time you will never hear from them again.

I had won two auctions that I did not receive. Does anyone know if they will be sending these out or what should i do? A charge back for my bids and shipping expenses?

I think this really sucks!! Because like you I will not be purchasing something in order to get my credits!! They really should have found a way to credit everyone back! This is reall BS!! I’m really mad about this, and the only reason why i even had credits was because I could never win anything it was set up for you to never win!

Jenni, I also got this email from scoreluxe. After I received the email, I called up oohilove’s customer support and they told me that Scoreluxe did not have permission to send us that email so they effectively spammed us.

I asked scoreluxe to never email me and my friends again, but they keep defending themselves and are not committing to it. I’ve written all about this on site jabber, a site that reviews other website.

If you are bothered by sites having unauthorized access to your email, please also let them know. Thanks!

What a bunch of crooks . Stole from my daughter who won her first bag almost a month ago and they keep stalling says its on backorder but all the while knew they were going for broke allowing us to buy bids and those poor people at the end one user spent over 800 bids for a LV they should be made to reimburse everyone back shame on them still answering there phone the day they posted the site going down how do you sleep at night.
