In 2009, the must-have color for handbags was Cobalt Blue. This gorgeous color made an appearance in the collections of many, many designers. This color was so hot, it’s no wonder everyone wanted a piece of the action. So is this color trend dead in the water? From the look of things, not by a long shot! That’s right, the hot new color for Fall 2010 is… (drum roll)… Electric Blue! It’s a new name, but virtually the same color. Just check out the Cobalt Blue bags I wrote about back in 2009 and compare them to the Electric Blue bags I have pictured below. Pretty much the same color, aren’t they? But hey, that’s okay! This is probably one color I will never grow tired of, especially when it comes to handbags.

All my life, I’ve been a devotee to leather handbags. Only straying to fabric bags for the good old diaper bag or beach bag and perhaps a utilitarian tote. I turned up my nose at canvas, satin, nylon and other non-leather bags. Oh, yes! I was a snob about Prada nylon too! I now have to apologize, admit I was small-minded and must re-frame my opinions! There are so many great new (and durable) fabrics in handbags that deserve a second look. Designers that were entrenched in leather now embrace nylon and other materials. It could be that they were simply looking for less expensive alternatives than leather or even more eco-friendly materials, but I believe they’d made some great design choices as well!

Kylie Minogue has enjoyed a great deal of popularity over the last few decades, especially in the UK. In fact, the Australian native is the only female artist, aside from Madonna, in British chart history to have achieved number one singles in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Minogue has often been described as a “style icon who constantly reinvents herself”. And after taking one look at her gorgeous Yves Saint Laurent Easy Bag in Silver, I would definitely have to say I agree with the “style icon” portion of that statement. I’ve been on the search for a new black patent leather bag. I’m obsessed with patent leather and I’m due for another bag. Patent leather is amazing, but after a while it loses it’s luster and shine. I personally don’t like when my patent leather bags aren’t shiny anymore so my hunt continues until I decide on which bag I want to invest on.

So far, I’ve seen two bags that I’m in love with. The YSL Easy Handbag and the Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Mini. Both are stunning and available in black patent. The only difference is the pricing! The Rebecca Minkoff MAM is significantly cheaper than the YSL Easy Handbag.

The Chat: chain effect!

It’s that time of year again! The leaves have fallen and the weather is turning colder. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and Christmas will be here before we know it! Oh my, where has the year gone? It seems like just yesterday that I was having to remember to write 09, instead of 08, when writing the date on my checks.

With the days passing by so quickly, it may be a good idea to start thinking of potential Christmas gifts for that special someone. Nothing, in my opinion, is worse than waiting until the last minute. So what do you think ladies? Would your significant other enjoy a new wallet this year?
